ROSCI0007 / Description

The Lower Ciuc Basin Natura 2000 site ROSCI0007 is located in the southeast part of Harghita County with an area of 2693 ha. The area partially overlaps with the following communes: Sâncrăieni (Sâncrăieni village), Sântimbru (Sântimbru village), Sânsimion (Sânsimion and Cetăţuia villages) and Tuşnad (Vrabia, Tuşnad Sat and Tuşnad Nou villages). The Olt River bisects the area.



The area includes 6 protected Botanical Reserves, according to the Decision of the County Council Harghita no. 195/2005 and the Law no. 5/2000. These are:
Középpatak fen - 4 ha,
Benes fen - 4 ha,
Borsáros fen - 1 ha,
Csemő fen - 5 ha,
Nyírkert fen- 4 ha,
Nádasfürdő fen - 4 ha.

The length of the area is approx. 20 km and its width varies between 50 and 3300 m. The coordinates are N 46º 14’ 49’’ - E 25º 52’ 3’’.
